Meet The Coaches and Their Approach

Meet Coach Valerie
Founder & Certified Youth Performance Coach.
For more than 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children and young people in many different roles. With a bachelor’s degree in Sociology / Psychology, I’ve always been drawn to understanding young people, supporting their growth, and helping them discover what they’re capable of.
I've also always had a passion for sports, performance, and being part of a team. Growing up, I was involved in a variety of activities—from sports and cheerleading to band—and I know firsthand how much these experiences can bring to a young person’s life. They can build friendships, confidence, discipline, creativity, teamwork, and a sense of belonging.
After spending more time around the youth sports and performance world, I began to see just how important the mental game is alongside the physical one. Youth athletes and performers are being taught how to strengthen their bodies, improve their skills, and prepare for competition—but they also need tools to manage pressure, handle mistakes, build confidence, quiet the outside noise, and ValYou themselves.
My Focus is in working directly with youth athletes and performers—both individually and in teams and groups. I love helping young people build their mental performance toolbox, and develop skills they can use both in their activity and throughout life.

Meet Coach FLIP
Mental Performance Coach: Teams, Coaches & Families
Sports have always been a big part of my life. I grew up playing a variety of sports and continued that passion into college as a two-sport college athlete. Being part of teams taught me some of the most valuable lessons I’ve carried with me—about teamwork, communication, resilience, leadership, and learning how to support the people around you.
For more than 10 years, I’ve had the opportunity to coach youth team sports, and that experience has given me a unique perspective on the many factors that shape a young athlete’s experience. I’ve seen the joy that comes from being part of a team, but I’ve also seen how pressure, expectations, communication, and team dynamics can impact confidence and performance.
With a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Social Work, I’m passionate about understanding people and helping create environments where young athletes can feel supported, connected, and confident.
My focus through VALyou the Flip is working with teams, coaches, parents, and guardians to strengthen the mental side of performance. I believe the people surrounding young athletes have an important role in helping them develop—not just as athletes, but as teammates and people.
My goal is to help create teams and environments where athletes can build confidence, support one another, embrace challenges, and discover that the skills they develop together can become skills they carry far beyond their sport.
